He evolved a system of education known as the "Preventive System" where the principles of reason, religion and loving kindness are the basis for the formation of the young. To continue this system of education, he founded the Salesian society, known as "Salesians of Don Bosco."

'Don Bosco' today has about 2500 institutions, including 6 universities and 48 professional colleges, which are spread over in 126 countries.
